eating in prado

Finding somewhere I felt confident eating was a challenge when I first arrived.  Naturally I searched for a cuisine I was most familiar with: Italian! Or close enough.  Since arriving I've ventured out of my comfort zone and will detail my experiences as I progress through the year.

Disclaimer: I will  be detailing my comfort food places, if you'd like to experience traditional Andalusian cuisine then check out Trip Advisor 🤷‍♀️ this is an honest account

Other take-away options:

Royal Kebab - C. Guerrero Sanchez, 3

Natura Kebab Prado - C. Vega Ardila, 11

Both serving falafel, Turkish pizza, kebabs (pork and chicken), burgers

The easy option:

Gallo D'Oro is the only pizza restaurant/delivery service in Prado.  It's an easy option and reasonably priced, however the quality is reflected in this so bear that in mind.

It is located in the pedestrianised zone.

Breakfast:

La Esquina del Carmen was recommended to me from day one.  It is frequented by foreign travellers due to its proximity to the local language centre and its fans from the local yoga retreat at Suryalila.  Orders often arrive with extra fruit without an additional cost as well as other surprises (be sure to confirm any allergens with the staff).  It's a perfect place to people-watch and has some english translations on its menu.  Service is very friendly but relaxed, so may not be an option for a short lunch break.

Lunch/Dinner:

Prado del Rey has no shortage of bars and restaurants, so take your pick! However please note their opening times.  This has caught me out many times since arriving and being hangry is my least favourite experience.  Their 'medio-dia' (aka siesta time) is a popular time for lunch, but don't expect any shops or bakeries to be open.  This time of day is between 2pm and approx. 5.30pm.  Keep an eye out for 'Menu del Dia' which is offered at lunch times, this was originally introduced to cater to tourists however some smaller towns have also adopted it.

Remember: Google Maps is your friend, however bear in mind that many businesses and restaurants don't keep their opening times up to date

Recommendations: La Esquinita del Tapeo - great value tapas dishes with elevated outside seating for people-watching

Meson Rural Iptuci - this has been recommended as one of the best eateries in Prado.
