Things to do

Part of the fun of being in a new place is discovering new things around you, however if you'd like some inspiration then check out some activities in Prado del Rey below!

grab your hiking boots

Prado has some great walking trails.  One even goes through a working pig farm which is really cool.  You can even spot some donkeys and a lot of goats at the trail starting near the secondary school, IES Carlos III.

If you fancy something a little more thrilling, then check out PradoNatura, Adán leads walking tours and there are a whole range of activities you can do in Prado del Rey and surrounding areas.  Check out his site here!

If you'd like to go it alone, download AllTrails to see local walks, including reviews.

Find some zen

Yoga classes in the town are advertised on posters or by WhatsApp.  The best way to find which ones are running is by word of mouth. I used to go to one in the town in Spanish, but I managed with no problem using some basic language skills.

TJust outside of the townn is Suryalila Yoga Retreat, which is INCREDIBLE.  It's worth going to the community classes on Wednesday evenings just to see its amazing set-up and HUGE yoga dome.  This is by donation.  It's a little out of the way but there are people from Prado you can ask for lifts with.  Their Instagram can be found here.

If you really want to relax and treat yourself, you can also visit Laura Nails for a number of treatments and Fisiomar for Sylwia's fantastic therapeutic massages.

Meet the locals

There's no better way to meet some local people than enjoying a caña of cerveza at one of Prado's MANY bars.  My personal favourite is La Bodega where we've met some English-speaking spaniards.  It can vary from having a low-key vibe to full on party mode with some live bands, before people move onto La Tasca Canaya, one of Prado's only 'clubs'.

Thursday markets

Every other Thursday is a great market in front of the theatre (Jose Doblas).  It can be difficult to get to bigger towns with the dismal public transport service, however the market should meet any essential needs that you have.

Get in the know:
Local events

JOIN THE LOCAL FACEBOOK GROUP.  Honestly, I would not know about anything that happens in my town without it (unless I asked my co-ordinator, who's great!).  To begin with I went days without knowing what various noises and cheers were for in the square, however the Facebook group is really great for knowing local information.  It's also helpful for important not-so-fun-things, such as the most recent driver strike which meant food stock was impacted in local supermarkets.
